Hundreds show for Friday food truck rally

Posted

The Omaha Food Truck Association had their first food truck rally at Cabela’s Friday night.

“We are excited, it’s kicking off the season,” said OFTA President Kelly Keegan.

The OFTA just formed this year and is working with the city and businesses to put on more events like this.

Despite the windy weather hundreds came with empty stomachs to experience the food truck rally.

“I am all about local favorites and supporting local business and that is what I would rather do,” said Stephanie Jensen.

“It’s something cool, you get a taste for everywhere around, you know Italian, Mexican, and New Orleans, its variety all here,” added Brandon James.

As people tried either a favorite or something new, the food quickly started to run out.

“It is swamped, we only prepared for maybe serving 100-200 people,” said the worker behind the Big Green Q.

Even with the shortage of food, the trucks were still excited to see the turnout for their first rally.

“This was awesome, we would love to do it again at other places, and if people come out like this we will bring more food,” said the Big Green Q.

The OFTA will have more rallies coming up this summer including Food Truck Thursday starting in July.
