Hy-Vee announced on Friday that it was shutting down its stockyards plaza store on June 26th.

The store is located ear 35th and in South Omaha.

The company says all full and part-time employees will be moved to other stores around the Omaha area.

The move will affect more than 170 workers.“

We understand that this store has served as an important neighborhood store for many nearby residents, and our employees will miss the connections they have made with the community. Unfortunately, resident support and our employees’ hard work have not equated to a successful sales performance in recent years,” said Brett Bremser, executive vice president of operations for Hy-Vee’s western region.

Bremser added that Hy-Vee remains committed to the Omaha community and they will continue with investments in the metro area.

Hy-Vee’s building lease at the location expires in August of 2018.

The company said that it will continue to fulfill its obligations in maintaining the property until the agreement expires or a new tenant occupies the space.
