OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - A motorcyclist has died after a crash and fall from an elevated freeway in Omaha Sunday evening.

Officers say 29-year-old Mark Adams was heading east on I-480 near the Centurylink Center in downtown Omaha, when the motorcycle hit the jersey barrier, causing Adams to fly off the bike and over the retaining wall of the freeway. Adams then fell below the roadway.

Police say the rider was wearing a helmet but do believe speed may have been a contributing factor to the crash.

Many people witnessed the crash and fall as they walked to and from the Taste of Omaha Festival happening at the time at Lewis and Clark Landing along the riverfront. The accident did not disrupt the festival's activities. There were some road closures that did cause some delay.
