Employees at 3 News Now got a chance to dunk their coworkers and bosses for a good cause today.

For $5, employees could either push the automatic dunk button or try six tosses.

While the dunking is done, you are invited to help with the cause.

Our parent company, E.W. Scripps, and the Scripps Howard Foundation hold an annual literacy campaign called, "If you give a child a book..." It has distributed more than 100,000 new books to children across the country since 2017.

Here in Omaha, we have teamed up with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands. The money we raise will be used to buy books for them.

If you would like to take part, you can donate here. Learn more about the campaign here

“There is an intrinsic link between the ability to read and a child’s ability to succeed in life,” said Liz Carter, president and chief executive officer of the Scripps Howard Foundation. “By helping children learn to read, we can assure they can have the tools and information they need to reach their potential.”
