Omaha officials have announced that Lake Cunningham campground will be closed effective immediately after E-coli was found.
The Office of Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert said Thursday that a routine test of the well water at the campground found trace levels of E-coli.
Officials say that water samples are taken weekly and tested by the Nebraska Health Department.
The E-coli was found in the sample tested on Wednesday.
Now, the state will recommend the steps necessary to treat the water before the Lake Cunningham can reopen to the public.
Officials are saying campers using the Lake Cunningham campground will get a refund and will have the option to move to the N.P. Dodge campground.
