Last to be cleared, side streets stay slick

While city trucks work to get the streets cleared, it's the residential areas that are often last priority.

"I've lowered my expectations to the point that they are at the bottom of the Grand Canyon," homeowner John Bennett said.

Residents of some neighborhoods say the real danger is the hills. The particular hill near 46th and Frances streets has been known to give drivers problems during winter months.

"It seems like everyone forgets how to drive in this stuff," Bennett said.

While today's winter weather could have been worse, it was more than enough to create a headache.

"Ya know, it's a lot worse than I thought. I didn't think we were going to get this much, but I just came outside and found out that this ice is pretty thick," resident Geno Lucero said.
