Two major Nebraska cities were ranked as some of the best drivers in America, according to a new report released by Allstate Insurance.

Lincoln was ranked 14th out of the 200 cities studied in Allstate's report.  While Omaha was ranked 40th on the list.

The study was based in terms of collision frequency.

"The report underscores Allstate’s commitment to safety, especially as motorists prepare to hit the roads for the 4th of July holiday," Officials said.

Allstate’s report also found that the average driver in Lincoln will experience an auto collision every 11.6 years, compared to the national average of every 10 years.

Allstate officials they created this report  to facilitate an ongoing dialogue about safe driving, to help save lives.

Brownsville, TX took the top spot for this year's list.

“As Nebraska drivers look forward to celebrating the holiday weekend, the results of our report are an important reminder to put safety first while on the road,” said Mitch Happ, an Allstate agency owner in Norfolk.

“We encourage motorists in Nebraska to continue practicing safe-driving skills that can help reduce roadway collisions, which may have unfortunate consequences, such as tragic fatalities and potentially higher insurance costs.”
