OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Most veterans' homes remain under lockdown due to COVID-19, leaving residents isolated and disconnected from the outside world. One 17-year-old boy is doing his part to make sure they feel appreciated.

With his site Hellos for Heroes, Ryan Pettit is brightening the lives of retired veterans by having people send letters and cards to facilities all over the country.

"If these people can know that they're cared for and their country loves them and appreciates what they've done, that would be amazing,’ he said. “I just hope that this link gets out as far as possible and as many homes get letters as possible."

More information can be found on Pettit's website, including a list of participating veterans homes.
