Man arrested for following, exposing himself...

Police arrested 19-year-old Dakota Schu after he was accused of following women around the Downtown Omaha area while pleasuring himself.

Several of the victims reported being followed near the Creighton campus.

Sarah Jerome said in the beginning of February she ran to the store to grab groceries. When she was getting back to her dorm at Creighton around 9pm, she noticed a man behind her.

“He came up to me and he was touching himself and I was just so taken back, I didn't know what to do,” said Jerome.

She said she saw another girl come out of her dorm and called out to her as loud as she could and luckily the man walked away.

“It stuck with me awhile, really scared me.”

Police said the man following her was Schu, and he is linked to several other incidents including another one that happened two weeks later where he followed a woman to a Creighton parking lot.

On Thursday police were working an accident near 24th and Pacific when witnesses flagged down police and told them they saw a man following a woman while touching himself. Officers found Schu nearby and he admitted to the act.

“I never really felt scared on campus, that was kind of a wakeup call just to be more aware of my surroundings and I always carry pepper spray now and that's for my own piece of mind,” said Jerome.

She said she doesn’t know what Schu was trying to do, but she was glad someone was nearby that night, “I know how ready he was, I think he had something else on the mind, and that still kind of haunts me, because had that girl not been there, and I had been completely alone I don't know what he would have tried.”

Police arrested Schu in 2014 for indecent exposure.

He was booked in the Douglas County Jail on $5,000 bond.
