A man convicted on federal charges for bank robbery will spend his life in prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
Quantal Blake, 29, received a life sentence for two bank robberies and an attempted bank robbery in 2014.
Prosecutors say they were able to connect him to the crimes by using location data from the electronic monitoring device he was required to wear as a result of a previous robbery conviction.
He was found guilty by a federal jury in May for the following crimes:
- Feb. 4, 2014 – Robbery at Premier Bank at 114th and Dodge streets
- March 20, 2014 – Attempted robbery at Premier Bank at 114th and Dodge streets
- March 20, 2014 – Robbery at First Westroads Bank on 98th St.
Because of his previous convictions, Blake was sentenced s a “three strikes” offender. The judge also ordered him to pay $18,290 to First Premier Bank and $13,085 to First Westroads Bank as restitution.
