Omaha could be the next city to ban plastic bags, joining the likes of Seattle and Austin.
Mayor Jean Stothert told our partners at the Omaha World-Herald, she is open to the idea. Storthert says she would rather get rid of them than impose a 5 or 10 cent tax on the plastic bags.
Council members have suggested the levy however Stothert said she would have to see how the council write the law before commiting to a ban.
