After collecting more than 133,000 signatures in July, Medicaid expansion will officially be on the ballot in Nebraska in 2018.
In order for the measure to officially make it to a public vote, the signatures had to be verified by Nebraska's Secretary of State. According to a release Friday, more than 104,000 of the signatures were validated.
“After careful review by our counties, I can confirm that the statutory requirements for valid signatures have been met,” Secretary of State John Gale said. “The measure will be placed on the 2018 general election ballot, barring an order from the district court handling the pending lawsuit that challenges the initiative petition.”
