Police say a man suspected of firing a gun at an apartment complex was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation after the incident put a nearby school on lockdown.

The man, later identified as David Sauer,  is accused of firing a gun, sending bullets thro his apartment wall, a glass door and into a nearby garage, according to police.

Investigators said Sauer was taken into custody near 87th and I street and taken to a hospital for evaluation.

UPDATE:

KMTV has obtained a copy of the email Millard Public Schools sent to parents:

" Parents and Guardians,

Millard North was contacted by the Douglas County Sheriff this morning shortly after 7:30 AM.  Reportedly, a suspect shot out some windows at the apartments across the street following a disturbance at an overnight party.  The armed suspect is at large, and we have no reason to believe that Millard North is a target.  We are cooperating with local law enforcement officials, and we are following our Lock-down procedures until further notice.  We will keep you posted.  Thank you."

UPDATE:

A neighbor at Pacific West Apartments, near 141st and Pierce streets, says she heard about three gunshots around 6:30 a.m.

Police are investigating the scene where a glass sliding door appears to have been shot out.  Investigators are also looking for evidence in a nearby garage unit.
