Millard Public Schools turn to parents for ideas on budget

Posted

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Millard superintendent Jim Suftin wrote a letter to parents in the district asking for ideas on how to handle a budget shortfall.

The district is dealing with a deficit of close to $6 million. The shortfall was caused by cuts in state money and projected property tax revenues being lower than expected.

Suftin said the district has cut 40 teaching jobs and three administrative positions since 2010. He also said cuts will lead to larger class sizes.

Westside School District is dealing with a similar problem.
