BURT COUNTY, Neb. (KMTV) — An elderly woman who was reported missing in Burt County around noon on Tuesday was located and rescued near Oakland, NE, according to a Nebraska State Patrol news release.

Authorities were able to immediately locate the abandoned vehicle she was driving.

Around 8 p.m., the NSP helicopter found the unidentified woman lying down in a field about a mile away from where her vehicle was found.

The woman was conscious but unable to move herself. One of the pilots picked her up and carried her out of the field.

She was flown to a nearby ambulance where she received care before being transferred to an Oakland hospital. She's in stable condition.

Those who responded to this incident say teamwork played an important role.

"It is a great example of what teamwork can produce when a quick response is needed. Without this concerted effort, the outcome could have been a lot worse," Burt County Sheriff Bob Pickell said.
