HONEY CREEK, Iowa. (KMTV) — Making snowmen, snow angels and having snowball fights are all parts of the joys of winter snow…but it's also a good time to strap on the gear and head to the nearest hill for some fun.

Thousands hit the slopes at Mount Crescent Ski Area over the weekend.

If you are into skiing, snowboarding or sledding, the recent snow delivered the perfect backdrop to gear up and have some winter fun.

Crowded ski lifts kept the skiers, snowboarders and sledders exercising, improving their skill levels and just enjoying the outdoors.

Winter lovers couldn't hit the slopes early enough as long lines formed before they even opened.

This season has already been super busy for the local winter wonderland.

All skill levels are welcome with plenty of classes to accommodate beginners.

Season passes are still available and can help with the long lines as season pass holders don't have to wait in line to purchase tickets.

Mount Crescent Ski Area is just 15 minutes from downtown Omaha in Honey Creek, Iowa.
