Multiple shootings leave 2 killed, 4 injured

Multiple shootings Wednesday left four  people injured and two people dead.

Police are investigating Omaha’s latest homicide, which preceded the night of violence on the city’s streets.

3: 03 p.m. – At Ernie Chambers Court apartments, near 16th at Yates streets, two people, 18-year-old James Starr and 17-year-old Brandon Phelps, were shot and killed.

5:16 p.m. - On 40th Avenue, near Pinkney Street, 35-year-old Reginald Graham reported a drive-by shooting. Police say they located the suspect vehicle near 34th and Kansas and arrested three of the four passengers. Damone Hanks, 23, Nafetari Davis, 21, were booked into jail. A 15-year-old was also booked at the Douglas County Youth Center for accessory to a felony and possession of a stolen firearm.  Hanks faces charges of attempted first-degree assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony, felon in possession of a gun, shooting at an occupied dwelling and possession of a stolen firearm.  Davis faces charges of accessory to a felony and a traffic offense.

8 p.m. – Near Willis Avenue and Florence Boulevard, one person, 21-year-old Davion Ford, taken by private car to the hospital

9 p.m. – Near 29th Street and Parker Street, one person, 52-year-old Reginald Croom, was shot in the leg while sitting in his SUV in a parking lot, according to police.

10:30 p.m. – Near 30th Street and Martin Avenue, two people, 23-year-old Brooklyn Patterson and 22-year-old Doanzell Carson, were injured after being shot at while leaving a gas station, police said.

Anyone with information can give an anonymous tip by calling Omaha Crime Stoppers at (402) 444-STOP.  Information leading to an arrest can result in a cash reward.
