Prosecutors say body stuffed in a couch for days

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Earlier this week, Omaha Police arrested four people in connection with the August homicide of 55-year-old Kelly Barges. Today, prosecutors allege the victim was beaten by hand, by lock and chain and then strangled before being stuffed in a couch for days.

French was denied bond at today's hearing.

The afternoon of Aug. 6, officers were called to 4527 Decatur St. for a death unknown.

After investigation, authorities determined Barges had died under suspicious circumstances and his death was ruled a homicide.

Homicide investigators with the Omaha Police made four arrests Wednesday relating to the case.

Louis French Jr., 36, was booked into Douglas County Corrections for 1st Degree Murder and Use of a Weapon - not a gun.

Forty-nine year old Coletta Cornett, 63-year-old Joel Jensen and 31-year-old Autumn Jones all face accessory to a felony charges and are lodged in Douglas County Corrections.
