NE electrical companies send help as hurricane nears FL

COLUMBUS, Neb. (KMTV) — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has already declared a state of emergency as Hurricane Dorian approaches from the Caribbean. Ahead of its expected landing on Sunday night, local power companies say they are dispatching crews and vehicles to help with relief efforts.

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) says 18 crew members will be hitting the road to Florida on Friday morning with:

  • A digger truck
  • Two small bucket trucks
  • Two large bucket trucks
  • Five pickups
  • Trailers with all terrain vehicles.

The Lincoln Electrical System and Grand Island Utilities also plan to send to crews to join the relief efforts. They leave tomorrow morning.
