Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse is telling Donald Trump supporters that he cannot support him if he becomes the GOP nominee.
Sasse took to social media late Sunday night to share an open letter to Trump’s supporters. He has previously been outspoken against the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination.
In a post on his Facebook page, Sasse shared the letter.
“If Donald Trump becomes the Republican nominee, my expectation is that I will look for some third candidate – a conservative option, a Constitutionalist.”
In January, Sasse took to Twitter to ask five questions of the presidential candidate.

Trump never directly responded, but followed up with three tweets directed at Sasse as he appeared on the Fox News Channel program “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren .”
“The great state of Nebraska can do much better than [Ben Sasse] as your Senator. Saw him on [Greta Van Sustern] – totally ineffective. Wants paid for pols.”
“[Ben Sasse] looks more like a gym rat than a U.S. Senator. How the hell did he ever get elected? [Greta Van Sustern]”
“Amazing that Ted Cruz can’t even get a Senator like [Ben Sasse], who is easy, to endorse him. Not one Senator is endorsing Canada Ted!”
In Sasse’s latest criticism of Trump, he cites Trump’s initial response to questions asking him if he’d reject an endorsement from David Duke, a former member of the KKK.
“A presidential candidate who boasts about what he’ll do during his ‘reign’ and refuses to condemn the KKK cannot lead a conservative movement in America.”
Trump has since said he disavows Duke’s support.
Sasse concluded his letter to Trump’s supporters by saying he appreciated their demand for change, but he couldn’t support Trump.
“I genuinely appreciate how much many of you care about this country, and that you are demanding something different from Washington. I’m going to keep doing the same thing. But I can’t support Donald Trump.”
