Roxanne McCallum loves doing hair. She opened 3 N 1 Salon in Benson about a decade ago.
“Benson is always so busy with the traffic flow. You just see the cars going by and everybody is like, oh there's a hair salon,” said McCallum.
Walk-ins are always welcome. But how does McCallum branch out of Benson and bring in new clientele? Twenty-five-year-old Trevesia Marion thinks she has the answer.
“I started thinking about how do we network? How do we put all of this on one platform so we know where the small businesses are and where the events are and what's going on in the community. I just decided to make a website,” said cityuplift.com creator Trevesia Marion.
Marion says many local businesses may not know how to market themselves. She wanted to help by creating cityuplift.com.
“I think a lot of people don't go to our local businesses because we don't know about them,” said Marion.
To advertise on Marion’s website all you have to do is email her a business card or information and she will make an easy to access tab.
“It just depends on what they want to submit ,” said Marion.
Cityuplift.com is a one stop shop to find local businesses, services and events offered around Omaha.
“I thought it would be very great just to get some publicity out there on the salon,” said McCallum.
3 N 1 Salon utilizes the website along with dozens of other small businesses. Besides accepting email, Marion goes out into the community and networks to build her brand. She does all of this free of charge.
“It's not about me, it's about the community,” said Marion.
Marion sees big things for not only the website, but for our community.
“I think we will have a better turn out at some of our events and I think some of our businesses will begin to grow. It's important for me to keep Omaha thriving, this is my home," said Marion.
