OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Bright red, white, and blue ribbons fluttered in the light breeze Monday morning as more than 100 children decorate their bikes or scooter or wagons to celebrate Independence Day. People paraded down J.E. George Blvd near Memorial Park as part of that neighborhood's annual Fourth of July festivities.
The celebration has been a tradition here for decades and now many people who grew up here and have since moved away bring their families back for the parade and friendly competition to determine which bikes were decorated the best.
Ralston's Fourth of July parade is the largest in the state. Thousands lined the streets to see the parade featuring floats, marching bands and politicians go by. Veterans led active duty service men and women along the parade route, which has become a holiday tradition.
