OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Girls from across Omaha are preparing for February when the Boy Scouts of America will start welcoming girls into its historic program.

Girls will join local troops next month thanks to the BSA's historic decision to open the Boy Scout program. The name is changing to Scouts BSA, and children 11-17 are all welcome.

While Scouts BSA will welcome both boys and girls, it will not be co-ed, troops will be single gender and meet independently. There will be 12 all-girl troops forming in Omaha.
