OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Some kids in Omaha can now pound the pavement with their new bicycles and helmets.

The Omaha Professional Firefighters Helmet Club and the Black Votes Matter organization passed out about 50 refurbished bikes Tuesday morning to kids that wouldn't otherwise get to ride around with their friends.

“It's a joyful time because the kids are grateful and it couldn’t be a better time in the world for us to be giving and giving joy to our kids who have endured so much the stress of life and virus and all the other things going on, and we're providing a little piece of joy and we're happy about it,” said Preston Love Jr. with Black Votes Matter.

The bikes and helmets were all donated by North Omaha churches, the Black Votes Matter organization and the Omaha Fire Department.
