Many have seen Omaha native Adam Devine making millions of people laugh in his movies and TV shows, but over Christmas, he took his jokes on a special tour — and brought a special guest.

From Dec. 20-27, Adam and his father, Dennis, toured Afghanistan, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Poland, and Spain for the USO Holiday Tour.  Adam entertained thousands of troops at almost a dozen different shows for U.S. soldiers.

"We went to all these insane places, all this bizarre next-level stuff — stuff that you would think you'd never be able to do," Adam said.

Devine grew up in Omaha and starred in seven seasons of the TV show "Workaholics."  He's also been in movies such as "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates," "Pitch Perfect" and "Pitch Perfect 2," and "The Intern."

When Adam wasn't performing they saw what the troops did everyday; they fired machine guns, rode in a Chinook Helicopter, and landed on an aircraft carrier.

His dad says it was an honor to visit and thank the soldiers who are protecting our freedoms.

"When we got there and you see all these kids and they're away from home I mean everyone of them is going to the shows carrying weapons and it's like it brings it home that this is a dangerous place," Dennis added. "And if we get to bring  a little of it home for an hour I mean this is great."

The USO shows started in the 1940s with Bob Hope; the holiday tour has been around since 2003.

Devine has two big movies coming out: "Game Over, Man" and "Isn't It Romantic."
