UPDATE: Omaha Police said Thursday night that the Millard South High school resource officer involved in the incident has been temporarily reassigned.
A police spokesman also says that Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer has authorized an internal review of today's Millard South police-student involved incident.
Omaha Police are investigating a video that appeared on social media Thursday afternoon.
In the video, a uniformed officer and a person in a security jacket are seen with a group of students.
The post on social media claims that in the video a "school police officer punches student multiple times who wasn't swinging at Millard south".

The video only shows a 15-second snippet of the incident and does not show what led up to the confrontation or what happened after.
The Omaha Police Department tells KMTV Action 3 News they are looking into the incident and the context of the officer's actions.
Full statement from OPD:
We are in contact with Millard Schools and are in the process of gathering reports from the school as well as the assaults that occurred. We were just made aware of this situation and the Chief has not seen the video yet. The video showed a 15 second snippet of an apparent large fight but failed to capture the situation in it's entirety. We are looking into what precipitated the officer's actions and if they were appropriate considering the totality of the circumstances.
We are disappointed these students chose to fight. We are grateful no students or staff were seriously hurt. We see the videos you see. We have begun and will continue our investigation.
