OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Omaha Police will now have more medical equipment that can be used in a mass casualty event.

In total there are 12 bags that include emergency trauma pressure dressings, tourniquets, chest seals and trauma shears. The bags will be used when Omaha Police are the first on the scene of traumatic events and life-taking measures must be taken.

Yhis is the new CPR in the 21st century," trauma surgeon Michael Wagner said. "Just as we've taught children just as we've taught people who are not medical professionals to do CPR we will be able to teach this."

The department plans to eventually add more bags.
