A bill to rename an Omaha post office in honor of a fallen Navy SEAL has been introduced in Congress.
The legislation introduced by Congressman Brad Ashford and co-sponsored by Congressmen Jeff Fortenberry and Adrian smith would name the U.S. Post Office near 142nd & U Streets after Petty Officer 1st Class Caleb A. Nelson of Omaha. Nelson was killed on October 1, 2011 when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan. "We must never forget the ultimate sacrifice Caleb made protecting our country," said Congressman Ashford. "The post office that bears his name would serve as a reminder to future generations of Caleb's distinct heroism." Nelson received numerous military awards including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Nelson left behind a wife and two sons who currently live in Norfolk.
