OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Grocery stores are packed on this Christmas Eve. Shoppers across Omaha headed to the stores to get their last-minute items before places close for Christmas.
Store managers 3 News Now talked to said Christmas Eve is always a busy day for grocery shopping but this year the crowds are even larger.
The Hy-Vee on 96th and Q Street saw a constant stream of shoppers all day.
"There are so many last minute things that people need," said Andrew Yochum, the Hy-Vee location's store director. "They get home and they realize they missed a chocolate chip for their recipe or some flour or they need a last-minute gift card or centerpiece for their table or maybe a cookie trey and we're glad to help them with all of these things."
Yochum said the warm weather and the fact Christmas Eve landed in the middle of the week delayed shoppers from coming in early to buy their food.
