Omaha voters have options to get to the polls

Warren Buffet famously rented a trolley to grab voters and take them to the polls two years ago. This year, the trolley is gone, but there are still plenty of ways for folks to get a free ride to the ballot box.

The Sarpy County Democrats say they have several drivers ready to taxi voters to their polling place on Tuesday.

The Don Bacon campaign said it has a league of volunteers ready to drive people to vote upon request, regardless of whether they plan to vote for the Republican congressman or not.

New for 2018: folks can use a promo code to request a ride on Uber for free, or Lyft for a discounted ride.

Volunteers with Black Votes Matter have been driving North Omaha residents to the polls since the 2006 midterms. This year, the group says they have a record number of people on hand to drive voters on Election Day.

"Many people on Election Day two years ago felt that they could have done more, and they're doing everything they can to do it: whether it's taking one person to the polls, whether it's canvassing for the candidate of their choosing, or whether it's making phone calls — anything you can do to get the candidate to come out," said Marque Snow, a volunteer with Black Votes Matter.

Black Votes Matter actually began this process weeks ago. Snow said they've already taken around 100 people to cast early votes.
