Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert has announced new plans for the old Civic Auditorium site downtown.

A $200 million mixed-use development is being proposed for the space at 17th Street and Capitol Avenue. The area is near the newly-established Capitol Entertainment District.

According to a news release, the plans also call for the library to relocate to the site, which is expected to total around 740,000 square feet.

The old auditorium has already been demolished. The project will appear before the Omaha Planning Board in May for the first step in the approval process.

Tetrad Property Group has submitted the plans. Stothert chose the company to redevelop the site after a Request for Proposals process in 2014.
