Omaha Police are investigating a deadly crash in South Omaha overnight.

Police were called to 37th and Q to investigate an accident around 12:15 Friday morning.

Investigators say a witness and evidence indicates the driver of a 2002 Ford Mustang appeared to be racing a 1995 to 1998 Ford Explorer eastbound on Q Street.

The driver of the Mustang left the road, crossed a parking lot, and slammed into the Nice Look Salon. The first arriving officers began performing CPR on the driver of the Mustang, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was later identified as 33-year-old Armando Armas.

The crash caused significant damage to the building, which a city inspector will check Friday morning.

Police are looking for the 1995 to 1998 Ford Explorer which may have damage on the passenger side. Anyone with information about the crash should call the Omaha Police Traffic Unit at 402-444-5626 or Crimestoppers at 402-444-STOP (7867).
