OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Omaha Police Department (OPD) said a suspect is in custody for a cold case murder that took place on Oct. 18, 2013.

A first-degree murder warrant was issued on Nov. 12 for 25-year-old Bernard Turner for the alleged homicide of 19-year-old Julius Vaughn.

"The importance of continuing to work on these cases, and having the community's help is crucial. It is extremely important to hold individuals responsible for these heinous acts. We will always continue to work hard for the families and the community and want them to know we are doing all we can to solve these cases," Deputy Chief Ken Kanger

Turner was located in Arizona because of unrelated charges and will soon be extradited to Nebraska and booked into the Douglas County Department of Corrections, OPD said.
