Internal investigation to look into 911 calls

Posted

Omaha’s police chief has initiated in internal investigation to look into what happened when officers were called to the home hours before a shooting left two people dead and three others injured.

“Two Omaha police officers responded to the call and had direct contact with Dontevous Loyd and Destacia Straughn. The officers have been reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigation,” the Omaha Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.

Loyd is accused of shooting and killing Straughn and her 2-year-old child. He is also accused of shooting three others: Kachelle Roby, Jamie Latner and Larrion Williams.

Officials say the internal investigation comes amid concerns expressed from the public regarding a 911 call by Straughn at 6:50 p.m. for a check of the well being that same day.
