OPD: Suspect arrested for abandoning newborn baby on porch

The Omaha Police Department said an arrest has been made in connection to a newborn baby that was abandoned on a porch on Monday.

After carrying out an investigation, police identified 28-year-old Maria Piaz-Perez as the woman seen putting a newborn on a porch in the 5600 block of South 15th Street.

After consulting with county and city attorney's, Piaz-Perez was charged with Child Abuse and Abandonment and has been booked at the Douglas County Department of Corrections.
