Omaha Police officials say a 17-year-old teen is recovering in a hospital after he accidentally shot himself Monday evening.
According to OPD, when they arrived,on the 4700 block of Fowler Ave, they made contact with the victim to had an apparent gun shot wound to his leg.
Victim told officers that he had been shot by an unknown party while walking home.
Victim was transported to Nebraska Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.
Upon further investigation, OPD detectives determined that the gun shot wound was self inflicted.
The boy was identified as 17-year-old Austin Gordon.
Officials say the investigation is ongoing.
