You hear a loud boom and don't know where it's coming from. But the Omaha Police Department, may know, if the city council approves more money for it to spend.
It is called a Shotspotter. If you've never heard of it before, here's how it works.
The sound technology pinpoints any loud boom and gets that information to police within 30 seconds.
Omaha Police hope the city will approve a proposal to give them $65,000 to increase the area covered by the Shotspotter.
If approved, the money would come from the 2015 budget.
