They grew up so fast!

A Bornean orangutan and three lion cubs at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo are already a year old.  The Zoo is marking their 1-year birthdays with a celebration on Sunday.

The orangutan named Suriianna, or Suri for short, was born on Nov. 19, 2014. Zoo leaders held a public naming contest and chose her name because of its meaning: “red rose.”

They plan to hold a birthday celebration for her at 10:30 a.m.

Then, 30 minutes later, it will be the three lion cubs’ turn.  Zoo officials say the two males, Kayode and Shango, and one female, Kimani, will become the “nucleus of the pride for African Grasslands,” a new exhibit still under construction at the zoo.
