OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — It's time for the Spooky Stampede, the Police Athletics for Community Engagement’s (PACE) 5k and half marathon this Saturday.

The spooky stampede is a 5k run or walk and half marathon and there’s still time to sign up.

“How do we get kids out of the basement, get them active outside...doing something,” says PACE founder Antonio Espejo. “The 5k is actually going to go through Lauritzen Gardens and the 1/2 is going to go through Mt. Vernon Gardens and through Mandan park, which goes through the park we want to revitalize.”

The event is happening thanks to sponsors like Aksarben Equipment.

“We are helping sponsor the kids to help out because PACE is a good organization,” says Mike Mackie of Akrsarben Equipment. “We will be supplying t-shirts and candy, it's going to be a very good time.”

To register for the Spooky Stampede, click on this link.

Registration costs $20 for the 5k and $30 for the half marathon.

Everyone gets a t-shirt, medal and candy. Costumes are encouraged.

PACE provides no-cost athletics programs to inner-city kids.
