A local supermarket is trying to stop young people from taking what many believe is a foolish challenge.
The Hy-Vee grocery store at Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion has put up signs saying you must be at least 21-years-old to buy Tide Pods.
"The Tide Pod Challenge," a social media fad, has seen teenagers putting the laundry detergent pods in their mouths possibly eating them. Consumer protection groups have warned that swallowing the liquid might kill you.

This is not a company-wide policy for Hy-Vee, but the manager at the Papillion Hy-Vee feels the precaution is needed.
Researchers have recommended that parents with children younger than age 6 shouldn't buy these pods but instead use regular detergent.
