Papillion Volunteer Fire Department holds food drive

PAPILLION, Neb. (KMTV) — Shoppers searching for their Super Bowl snacks on Saturday had the chance to share their treats with the Tri-City Food Pantry.

The Papillion Volunteer Fire Department collected cash and food donations at the Shadow Ridge Hy-Vee. They also offered $5 vouchers for shoppers to add onto their total at the checkout line.

The department has been looking for a way to get involved in the community this year, with the pandemic limiting a lot of volunteer options.

"This last year has been a little bit more difficult to do some of the events that we usually do so we decided to do a food drive because that's an easy one to do and its easy to do at a grocery store," said Dan Fuller, a Hy-Vee store director and volunteer firefighter.

The fundraiser had the Chiefs and Buccaneers facing off to see who collected the most money. We're told the Chiefs won.
