The PGA Tour announced a new Web.com Tour event will be held at The Club at Indian Creek, near 202nd and Maple starting in 2017.
The event will be called the Pinnacle Bank Championship, part of a five-year title deal that will keep the event in place through 2021.
The PGA cited Omaha's volunteer efforts and fan attendance in the past as reasons for returning.
The Web.com Tour held a yearly event in Omaha from 1996 to 2013, but in January 2014, the PGA announced the Cox Classic would not return to Champions Run Golf Course. At the time, the PGA called the move a "one-year hiatus."
The last year the event was held in Omaha, it raised more than
$100,000 which went to 12 non-profit organizations.
A new group called Support Nebraska Inc. will manage and operate the Pinnacle Bank Championship. Web.com Tour officials say net proceeds from the event will again benefit local charities.
