Traffic investigators say a driver ran a red light and crashed into two other vehicles at a west Omaha intersection, leaving three people injured.

The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. at the intersection of 180th Street and West Center Road.

Police say 46-year-old Mark Ohmer, of Indian Trail, North Carolina, was driving a Dodge work van eastbound on West Center Road when he ran a red light and crashed into a Ford F350 pickup truck as it was heading north on 180th Street.

The van also hit a third vehicle, but that driver was not injured.

Ohmer and his passenger, 29-year-old Brandon Jackson, of Monroe, North Carolina, were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Police said Ohmer had a broken ankle and Jackson suffered bumps and bruises.

The driver of the pickup truck, 26-year-old Michael Wiekhorst, of Valley, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries that included an open skull fracture, according to police.

Investigators say alcohol was a factor in the crash and charges are pending against Ohmer.
