Arrests made in downtown Lincoln homicide

LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — 3/18/20 update:

On Wednesday, Lincoln Police arrested 34-year-old Marcus D. Winston for 1st degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony in connection with the homicide of 32-year-old Timothy Montgomery.

Nathaniel A. Love, 25, was also arrested for accessory to 1st degree murder.

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is investigating the homicide of a 32-year-old man.

At about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to 13th & O St after hearing gunshots.

According to LPD, multiple officers were in the area completing an investigation that was unrelated.

Officers found an unresponsive male, identified as Timothy Montgomery, laying on O St with gunshot wounds.

Medics began CPR and transported to the man to the hospital where he died at 2:22 a.m.

Additional officers attempted to manage the crowds of people and look for witnesses, according to LPD.

Witnesses are being interviewed and officers are searching for video that may have captured what happened. Initial investigation shows a disturbance before the shooting.

Crime Scene Investigators are collecting shell casings and documenting further evidence.

The name of the victim is not being released until next of kin are notified.

LPD says they don't have information suggesting any ongoing threat to the public.
