A man faces charges for trying to flee officers while a teenager was in the car with him.

Justin Taylor, 27, faces charges of child endangerment, flight to avoid arrest, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, violating a school bus stop sign and more.

Police say, around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers saw him driving recklessly in a silver Chevy Tahoe in the area of 63rd and Maple streets.

According to the Omaha Police Department, they used the police helicopter to track Taylor’s vehicle as it traveled through the Benson area, violating traffic signals and even passing a school bus as it was letting children off the bus.

When Taylor stopped near 42nd and Spencer streets, police said he and the 14-year-old passenger went into a nearby home.

Taylor eventually surrendered and told officers he was “having a bad trip on meth,” according to the incident report.

The teen told police Taylor told him to “put his seat belt on because it was going to be a bumpy ride,” the investigating officer wrote.

Police say they also found stolen property in the back of Taylor's vehicle.
