Police search for Village Pointe robbery suspect

Posted

A robbery suspect remains on the loose Monday night after he stole cash from the Victoria's Secret at Village Pointe on Monday.

Omaha Police say a black man wearing a parka and hooded sweatshirt walked into the store around 12:30 p.m., implied he had a weapon and demanded money. The suspect ran off after an employee handed over the cash.

Police have not released additional details or the amount taken.

Liarose Garcia works at a store nearby. She arrived at work shortly after police arrived.

"When I came here, there were still the cop cars that had been stationed around the building but things looked pretty organized. They seemed to have everything under control, but everybody was definitely concerned," said Garcia.

Garcia said Monday's robbery is part of a recent shoplifting spike in the area.

"There definitely has been an uptick recently. There's been a lot of mall management sending out emails that there's been a lot of repeat offenders that are we need to keep an eye on," added Garcia.

If you have information regarding the robbery, police ask you contact Omaha Crime Stoppers at 402-444-Stop.
