Investigators credit witnesses who gave “good descriptions” of an attempted bank robbery suspect with helping them make an arrest.
The Omaha Police Department says 23-year-old Cameron Ammons was arrested for trying to rob the Centris Federal Credit Union near 35th and L streets around 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
They say on off-duty Omaha police office,r who was working security at the bank, prevented the robbery and provided a detailed description of the suspect.
Investigators say witnesses helped point out where the suspect fled and when they found the getaway car near 39th and O streets, neighbors helped by giving “good descriptions” of the suspect.
Police say they located Ammons in his own vehicle near 16th and Binney streets.
He faces charges of attempted robbery, possession of a gun by a felon and receiving a stolen item.
