A funnel cloud was spotted near the western Iowa towns of Emerson and Hastings on Friday afternoon as a system of storms prompted weather warnings in southeast Nebraska and neighboring counties in Iowa.
Meanwhile, rain and hail affected driving conditions in various parts of western Iowa.

The weather system hit eastern Pottawattamie County just after 3:30 p.m., when National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the Iowa towns of Oakland, Carson, and Macedonia, followed by a severe thunderstorm warning for the same area.
"At 3:38 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Macedonia, or 26 miles southwest of Atlantic, moving northeast at 40mph," the alert states. Shortly thereafter, NWS was also advising about a possible tornado and golf-ball sized hail.
That was followed by a severe thunderstorm warnings in the Nebraska towns of Auburn, Peru, and Brownville, then a severe thunderstorm warning for Nebraska City and the Nebraska towns of Verdon and Brada, as well as the Iowa towns of Sidney and Hamburg.

Earlier on Friday, parts of Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri were put in a tornado watch until 9 p.m.

Police in Nebraska City and Auburn reported no damages early Friday evening.
