Rain has been causing flash flooding issues in Council Bluffs today. One intersection that experienced major flooding this morning was North 29th Street and Avenue G. Some vehicles decided to continue through the intersection, while others stopped partially through and decided it wasn't worth the risk.
Another area of Council Bluffs hit hard with flash flooding was near South 38th Street between 4th Avenue and Dodge Riverside Drive.
River Park apartments resident Bobby Graham, says he hasn't seen flooding like this during his eight years of living here.
"Not even during 2011, when the river was at its highest at that point, no we didn't have any flash flooding inside here like that."
While Graham didn't have any flooding inside his apartment, he says he saw the water rising up to about grille height to the cars parked in the street over from his complex.
"Probably about the top of some of the wheel wells on some of the cars, so about 24 inches, or two feet."
Council Bluffs resident Chris Berry moved in to his house back in June and has never seen anything like this before.
"I've never been in a situation like this. I've been in two feet of snow, but not two feet of water near my house. So, I mean, what can you do?" Berry adds.
Berry says they don't have a basement, so they haven't had any major flooding issues yet, just a little bit of water inside. They put a few sandbags up at their front door and hope the water doesn't rise any more.
