A man with a long criminal history is back behind bars facing murder charges.

Police arrested 22 year old Michael Goynes for the murder of Barbara Williams near 48th and Boyd on April 25th.
Goynes was released from the Douglas County Jail last month after prosecutors dropped first degree murder charges against him for the shooting death of Lamond Secret on Memorial Day 2015. The Omaha Police Officers Association says Goynes' arrest shows the system is broken. "Its just a sad story all the way around when a repeat offender continues to get out of prison and now there is  a family without a grandmother and that's sad" said Anthony Conner.

Goynes was convicted on theft and weapons charges in 2011. He got parole, but was sent back to prison after violating the terms of his release. He was released again in 2013 under Nebraska's Good Time law.
